Limited Availability

Please note that rescue bikes can be purchase from Victory Thrift when available.  While there is an endless supply of rescue bikes, there is a limited supply of human help.  If you would like to volunteer to help revive abandoned bikes, let us know.   No experience necessary.

A touching tale

In the front ranges of the Rocky Mountains lies a forgotten piece of metal and rubber, amidst a pile of rubble. Like so many others, this bike has been left for trash, despite having great potential for a long life of use ahead of it.

Lucky for this bike though, it was found by a CCC volunteer one day, when he was rummaging through the piles of waste at the local dump.  Seeing the potential that the bike still had to offer, he hoisted it over his shoulder and brought it back to the Cruiser workshop, where he resuscitated it.  Replacing the tires, oiling the chain and truing the wheels, was all it needed.  Now , this once desolate bike, will provide a great ride and a means of transportation for someone in Canmore.

Rescue Bikes

Save a bike from the landfill today!

Looking for a bike to cruise around town with?  Need it for more than a few hours?  Don’t want to spend a lot of money?  Then adopting a Rescue Bike may be just the thing for you.  Get the bike that you need, reduce waste, contribute to cleaner air and enjoy some exercise.

Rescue bikes have been “rescued” from the landfill and refurbished by one of our volunteers.  Some of them are in great condition, while others ride perfectly well, but may need little more love and a few parts to make them in tip top shape again.

Rescue bikes are available for purchase* from Victory Thrift Store, located at #3 Industrial Place.

*Prices are set according to the amount of work and parts required.  We intend to make bikes accessible to all, while also ensuring the sustainability of the program.
